Yeah 2016 saw various Nigerian music act flourish. Without much ado, this was one of those years that could be described as a ‘hit a home run’ year for some artists.

From Wizkid’s co-production of Drake’s album which he has been nominated alongside with Drake for Grammies, to Mr Eazy coming through with a new sound that was accepted across board in Africa, to Tekno with hits upon Mo-hits. This was arguably a very big year for Nigerian Music.

Despite the fact that several other artist were doing very fine with their work, constantly putting out great songs, Tekno had most of the banging hits this year.

Tekno, who is often called Nigerian Chris Brown because of his great talent in singing and dancing, is a singer‒songwriter and a creative producer. He first came to limelight after performing in an event back in 2012 while in Abuja. He was spotted by a renowned stand-up Nigerian comedian Julius Agwu and handed over to TrippleMG to sign a deal with them on October 5, 2013.

However, from 2014-2015 respectively, Tekno Miles has had hits and more hits such as “Dance”, “Anything” which won him nomination in the ‘best new act of the year’ category at the 2014 Nigerian Entertainment Awards, “Duro” and “Duro” remix featuring Phyno and Flavour produced by Dj Coublon, and also “Wash” produced by the ace Dj Coublon which also had massive airplay.

This year 2016 was a blessing for the Nigerian pop star who released hits including ‘Pana’ and ‘Diana’ that has been rocking the airwaves for a while now. These two songs have gotten the wide acceptability and have cemented his place in the heart of many of his fans and music lovers. Apart from these hit songs, he also got an award from the sixth edition of the MTV-Mama’s award which took place in Johannesburg South Africa.

On the 22nd of November 2016, the fair‒lanky man signed a deal with Sony Music World. This revelation was made known to the public as he took to his page on Instagram to drop the video of him signing the dotted lines with U.B franklin and Jude Okoye present.

Big Fish:

The ‘big fish’ is a contextualize term used in describing someone who is accomplished in whatsoever he or she is doing in life. Contextually, you’d realize that each time a small fish gets bigger inside water; he swims to big water. 2016 has seen Tekno become a big fish and he is currently swimming in a big water with two biggest 2016 songs and a Sony Music World deal tied to his fin. The spotlight has uninterruptedly been beamed on him.

Perhaps, the ‘big fish’ mentality was done on him that’s why he rebuffed the just concluded Headies 2016 awards, which he was nominated in the “Next rated category” alongside Mr. Eazy and YCEE.

Alhaji Tekno, as he’d refer to himself, took to his Instagram page to express his dissatisfaction as he wrote;

This is also a dissatisfaction tweet by one of the many Tekno’s fan, who expressed his thought on the same issue;

Tekno was later disqualified from the award due to the fact that he didn’t make himself available for any of the mandatory activities for the organizers and owners of the award which is Hip TV, hence the committee’s decision to axe him out of the nomination for this year’s award.

His disqualification from the Headies Awards will not stop him from taking the ‘big fish’ mojo to 2017, to consistently churn out beautiful songs for his fans worldwide and grow his brand to an extraordinary level of repine for demand for his worth and class, and above all make a lots of money in the coming year.

Expectations are already very high for the ‘Pana’ crooner who has begun tweeting about how 2017 will look like for him.
