Nigerian Reggae Legend, Majek Fashek Bows Out!

Majekodunmi Fasheke aka Majek Fashek

Nigerian Reggae music icon, Majekodunmi Fasheke popularly known as Majek Fashek is dead.

The death of the reggae icon also known as “The Rainmaker” was announced on Tuesday by his manager, Omenka Uzoma in a post via Majek’s official Instagram account, saying Fashek “has gone to be with the LORD his Maker.”


“Today been having pressure calls, well its true that the African legendary No 1 icon has gone to be with the Lord his maker. Let’s celebrate him, his achievements and his family. Whatever decision made with his immediate family will be notify.”

The award-winning Majek was 71 and will be remembered for his single ”Send Down the Rain” which was seen as a miracle song used to petition God whenever people felt it was due time for rainfall.

He was the first African Artist to be signed to Interscope Records in 1990, a whopping $20 million deal

In 1992, Majek performed on the Late Nite Show With David Letterman and was once gifted $100, 000 by Bob Marley’s wife, Rita.
