Nigerian Entertainer Sound Sultan Dies After Battle with Cancer


Nigerian veteran and multi-talented entertainer, Sultan Sound has reportedly died of throat cancer.

Sound Sultan’s death was disclosed in a statement signed by Dr. Kayode Fasasi on behalf of the Fasasi family.

The 44-year old Naija Ninja crooner, Christened Olarewaju Abdul-Ganiu Fasasi died on Sunday, July 11, 2021.

He was diagnosed with the disease – Angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma in May had reportedly begun chemotherapy at a United States-based hospital.

Sultan whose career dates back to the ’90s will be remembered for his unique music style and for being vocal about poor leadership and other social issues in Nigeria.

He shot to the limelight in 2000 with his first single, Jagbajantis, before joining Kennis Music, where he released four albums.

Sound Sultan would later go on to start Naija Ninjas, a parent organization for a record label, production outfit and clothing line.

He married his long-term girlfriend Chichi Morah, now Farida Fasasi have three children.
