Nigerian actress and television comic star, Funke Akindele has been arrested by the Lagos State police days after a video of her husband’s birthday party went viral on social media, a disobedience to the govt rules on lockdown to reduce the spread of the Coronavirus.
According to the Lagos Police spokesperson, DSP Bala Elkana, investigation is ongoing, as efforts are being intensified to arrest the remaining persons spoted in the video. They include Funke’s husband Abdul Rasheed Bello a.k.a. JJC Skillz and music artiste, Azeez Fashola a.k.a Naira Marley.
“They are in their best interests urged to report at the State CID Yaba on Monday 6th April, 2020 or risk being declared wanted”, the statement added.
Funke also known as ‘Jenifa’ who also happens to be an ambassador of the NCDC, had earlier apologised to fans via a video on social media, explaining how the party came about.
The Lagos Infection Diseases Regulations 2020 (the Regulations) prescribes a jail term of one month or N100,000 fine or both for persons found guilty of hosting gatherings or flouting the lockdown order.
