A former Director-General of the Department of State Services, Ita Ekpeyong, has been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
Ekpeyong was arrested at his residence, No.46, Maman Nasir Street, Asokoro, Abuja, on Thursday afternoon by officials of the agency in collaboration with armed policemen.
This comes two days after Acting President Yemi Osinbajo fired Mr Lawal Daura as the DG of the DSS.
Attempts by the EFCC to search Mr Ekpeyong’s residence and arrest him in 2017 had been foiled by DSS officials, sparking controversy.
Mr Ekpeyong had been invited by the anti-graft agency for his alleged role in the arms scandal involving a former National Security Adviser, Colonel Sambo Dasuki (retired), and other service chiefs.
