Constituency Briefing: Aniekan Umanah Empowers Constituents with Cars, Business, Educational Grants & More Others

Over 800 people in Abak, Etim Ekpo and Ika Federal Constituency in Akwa Ibom State were on Saturday presented with various empowerment items by the lawmaker representing the area in the House of Representatives, Hon. Aniekan Umanah.

The presentation ceremony took place at the Government Technical College, Abak during the constituency briefing and empowerment ceremony hosted by the National Assembly member to showcase his constituents his midterm report of his legislative mandate.

Items presented include cars, mini-buses, tricycles, motorcycles, sewing machines and milling machines. Business and Educational grants were also presented to more than 100 beneficiaries including wheelchairs presented to people living with disabilities, while the lawmaker’s wife, Mrs Maureen Umanah presented wrappers and cash to widows drawn from the federal Constituency.

Hon Umanah enjoined the people to sustain their support for Governor Udom Emmanuel’s completion agenda and appreciated his constituents for the confidence reposed in him, assuring his people of his commitment in ensuring that issues affecting their well-being receive the needed legislative attention at the National Assembly.

In his mid-term report, the National Assembly Member listed 18 bills and motions, 7 advocacies tabled before the National Assembly for necessary legislative action and several constituency outreaches including, projects, free medical care, job placement in federal parastatals and agencies among others.

“Today, I pledge my commitment to quality representation and massive empowerment from time to time even as we continue to place our Federal Constituency on the front burner of national discourse particularly in the area of legislation, representation, and oversights”, he told an ecstatic crowd of supporters and party members who thronged the venue.

Addressing the gathering, Chairman on the occasion and National Legal Adviser of PDP, Barr. Emmanuel Enoidem thanked the people of the federal constituency for honouring the invitation, and expressed satisfaction with the lawmaker’s representation, saying, Hon. Umanah has raised the bar in legislative representation in the federal Constituency.

The highpoint of the event was the presentation of empowerment items to beneficiaries and conferment of special congressional recognitions to personalities including, Governor Udom Emmanuel, Deputy Governor, Mr Moses Ekpo, Speaker, Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Aniekan Bassey, National Legal Adviser of PDP, Barr. Emmanuel Enoidem, former Attorney General of the State, Barr. Uwemedimo Nwoko, an Elder statesman, and Political Leader of Essien Udim, Obong Michael Afangideh, and Chairman, BOT, Obong University, Prof. Moses Akpanudo.

Other award recipients include Medical Practitioner and ENT Specialist, Dr Emmanuel Ukpong, Senator Helen Esuene, Archbishop Elijah Mboho, a Medical Practitioner and philanthropist, Chief Mrs Mercy Ekpo and former Super Eagles Captain and International Footballer, Vincent Enyeama.

Dignitaries at the event include Governor Udom represented by the Commissioner for Information, Barr. Ini Ememobong, Deputy Governor, Mr Moses Ekpo, PDP National Legal Adviser, Barr. Emmanuel Enoidem, Leader, Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Sir. Udo Kerian, State House of Assembly Members for Abak, Mr Mfon Idung, Etim and Ika, local government Chairmen, Vice-Chairmen, Supervisors and Councilors from the three local government areas in the federal Constituency and party officials.
