Female students of University of Uyo also known as UniUyo in their numbers on Thursday marched in a peaceful protest within the town campus and to the major road leading to the institution over security concerns around their hotels.
The female students while carrying out the protest were seen carrying tree branches and leaves in their hands while chanting “we need security” after a second robbery attack at the popular Hall 6, which was robbed on Monday this week in the first attack.
One student, Emem was badly stabbed in that incident and had reportedly passed away. “We are appealing to the Akwa Ibom State Government to please come to our aid and we can’t afford to loose another girl” one Twitter user said.
