Feminist Coalition (FemCo) is trending again but this time it for unfortunate reasons. A user on popular social media Twitter, has uncovered a recent Bitcoin transaction of a transfer amounting to over N50m, from funds raised during the EndSARS campaign, to an unknown Bitcoin wallet.

The user, @Rx_Deyholar (Adeola of Lagos), tweeted that FemCo were yet to make accounts for all monies they received during thenEndSAES protest, adding that they recently withdrew $51,000 worth of Bitcoins silently.

He equally tweeted a series of screenshots of the detailed transactions of transfers made from one Bitcoin address used by FemCo during the EndSARS protest, to collect Bitcoin donations during the protest, to another. Recall that Bitcoin transactions were necessitated after issues regarding the initial Naira bank accounts used came up.

FemCo have come out with a statement, denying any wrongdoing, stating that the transaction in question was an old one that was held up for 5 months and has only been confirmed now. According to FemCo, “The delay in confirming the BYC transaction until March 5th 2021, was due to the meagre Bitcoin network fees chosen.”

There have been mixed reactions online with some standing by FemCo statement and not finding any wrongdoing, and others finding similarities with the action and that of looting government officials.
