Maje Ayida, fitness expert and ex-husband of media personality cum book author Toke Makinwa, has taken legal action against her over her recently published chronicle piece – ‘On Becoming’.
According to reports by theCable, Maje has hired law firms in UK and Nigeria to see to the stoppage of sales of the book which was sold out on Amazon, iTunes and other platforms across the world.
‘On Becoming’ recounts Toke’s relationship with Maje, which she accused him of cheating while they were dating and even after they got married, plus infecting her with Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDs).
The legal document refers to the book as “exaggerated fabrication,” adding that it contains “defamatory words”.
Their relationship hit the rocks in 2015 6 months after their marriage when Toke found out Maje had impregnated another lady.
The law firms the fitness expert hired are Carter-Ruck, a leading defamation law firm in the UK to top figures like Simon Cowell, Elton John and Chelsea FC, while Kemi Pinheiro (SAN) of Pinheiro LP is heading the legal front in Nigeria.
Maje Ayida, through his lawyers, have demanded Toke to retrieve the already-sold books and stop all forms of distribution for destruction and tender a full page unreserved apology to Maje Ayida in three national dailies. Failure to comply to this will result in the commencement of legal action. She was given seven days upon receipt of the letter which had been delivered to Toke on Monday, December 23, 2016.
