“Today is Public Holiday, Go Home” – Lagos Protesters declare, Block Lekki Toll Gate

The #EndSARS protest at the Lekki Toll Gate.

The #EndSARS Protest in Lagos continues as the protesters continue in their demands for an end to police brutality, declaring today a public holiday in the State while blocking the Lekki Toll Gate.

This move is despite the order given at a media briefing on Sunday afternoon in Abuja by IGP Adamu for the dissolution of the SARS unit.

The young protesters in their numbers since 4 am took over the Oriental Hotel toll gate, causing heavy traffic as some commuters are seen returning as seen in videos currently found on social media.

Nigerians are also asking that President Muhammadu Buhari to give an executive order on the dissolution of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad unit of the Police, as an order by IGP Adamu is not enough and not constitutional. They also demand the investigation of crimes committed by SARS.

Traffic gridlock caused by the protesters

After the dissolution by the IGP, about 5 persons were killed by police officers in Ogbomosho on Sunday, October 5th 2020.
