The ‘Tech 101’ digital skills training by The RootHub, a Business Accelerator System headquartered in Akwa Ibom State on Monday kicked off its 2020 edition of the program.
In partnership with global tech giant Google, TECH101 training is running simultaneously in The RootHub offices in Port Harcourt and Uyo with the aim of leveraging Technology to shape Lives!
“Tech 101” is a training program designed to equip the youths in Nigeria with digital skills, it provides the needed technology skills in ample amounts while empowering them to access a vast employment opportunity and advance their career paths while stimulating self-reliance in entrepreneurship.

The free digital skills training is also supported by AKEES & AYAYA Foundation on the opening day taught trainees learned about digital skills and its importance in today’s world, design elements and process, using Canva, Google Suite and lots more.
Through this program, many have moved from being unemployable to becoming employees while others have improved on their service delivery to clients.
The participants are drawn across secondary school leavers, University Students, business people, and youth corp members, with the oldest participant being 85 years old.

The training which runs for 2 weeks for each batch, is wrapping up soon on its first batch for the year, with the second batch kicking off tentatively in February or March 2020 (follow The RootHub on social media for updates).
In 2019, the number of trainees hit a whopping 11, 365 youths, after the program entered a partnership with Google for its Impact Challenge in November 2018.
