The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) on Sunday announced it would resume the nationwide strike action it suspended in September 2017 with immediate effect.
This is due to the non-implementation of the Memorandum of Action (MOA) signed with the Federal Government. After all entreaties were made to the Federal Government by ASUU to honour their agreement with the union fell of deaf ears , they have no other option than to begin an indefinite strike action.
Following the announcement of the ASUU strike, Nigerian Senator & Civil Rights Activist, Shehu sani shows his support to the strike.
The senator representing Kaduna Central district in the National Assembly tweeted;
“I share the belief that ASUU strike is a peaceful & justifiable action to save public universities in Nigeria.At 70$ per barrel,Nigeria can afford to adequately fund public universities.Elite’s in power who can afford to educate their wards abroad, should have some honour”
