Police Allegedly Arrest Uyo Residents Over #EndSARS Posts and Convo on Social Media

Some residents in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital have allegedly been arrested by police officers of the defunct SARS over conversations and post made on social media about the #EndSARS protest which is currently rocking Nigeria.

According to an eyewitness account, the arrests were made by the officers, precisely by Adiaha-Obong Secondary school, Nwaniba road while searching individuals and their phones. Those who posted or have had conversations concerning the protest on social media were thrown into the police truck.

This is said to have happened about noontime shortly before IGP Adamu’s media briefing which announced the dissolution of the SARS unit across the country.

Some of those planning protest say they have gotten threat messages from strange numbers, but have resolved that it will go as scheduled on Tuesday, even after the police commissioner had refused to approve the peaceful protest.

We await to see how this turns out on Tuesday in Uyo between the #EndSARS protesters and the Police.
