The Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Comrade Ini Ememobong on Friday led a Government delegation on an inspection of the vandalised properties by hoodlums in Uyo on Thursday, 22 October, 2020.
He said the aim of the exercise was to give the team firsthand Information on the situation which they would report to the State Governor.
Comrade Ini Ememobong condemned the destruction of personal and government properties as he called it an act of criminality against democracy and humanity which does not characterise a peaceful protest.
The information boss also expressed his sympathy to the owners of properties vandalized by the hoodlums. He assured them that Governor Udom Emmanuel deeply sympathizes with them over their loss, and will stop at nothing to ensure that the culprits face the full wrath of the law.
Items like steel cabinets, cookers, plasma television monitors, among others that were discarded on the road by the hoodlums were recovered.
The delegation visited the headquarters of Akwa Ibom Broadcasting Corporation and AKISIEC office, both on Udo Udoma Avenue, LG showroom on Ikot Ekpene Road, Cold Stone Creamery, De Choice mall, Access Bank on Aka Road, Ibom Plaza and Anchor Insurance building on Wellington Bassey Way.
The Commissioner for Information was accompanied on the inspection by the SSA to the Governor on Security, Captain Iniobong Ekong, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Information & Strategy, Mr. Inyang Jameson, Directors of Information and Public Relations in the Ministry, Akparawa James Edet and Mrs. Grace Akpan, the State NUJ Chairman, Comrade Amos Etuk, the State NUJ Secretary, Dominic Akpan, the Chairman, Correspondents chapel, Mrs. Idongesit Ashimeri and other media professionals in the State.
