PDP’s Udom Emmanuel Reelected Governor of Akwa Ibom State After Landslide Victory

The Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Udom Emmanuel and flag bearer for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been reelected for a second term.

Mr. Udom won the March 9, 2019 governorship polls with a total of 519,712 votes, defeating APC’s Obong Nsima Ekere, a former MD of the Niger Delta Development Commission(NDDC)who polled 171,978 votes.

Udom was officially declared winner at the State headquarters of INEC, which was announced by Prof. Osasere Orumwense, Vice Chancellor of the University of Benin, and Akwa Ibom State Governorship Elections returning officer.

“Mr. Udom Emmanuel is hereby announced elected, as Governor of Akwa Ibom State from May 29,2019 – May 29, 2023.”
