This was made known by Prof. Joseph Afuape, the returning officer for the election exercise, who announced the final results which the All Progressives Congress, APC, polled a total of 254,345 to come second behind the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP  with a total votes of 254, 698. The total number of valid votes is 767,955 and while rejected votes to be 47,843.

“The margin between the PDP and APC which is 353, and the total cancelled ballots totalling 3348 will not make any party a winner of the contest, in line with electoral act”, Afuape stated, however, declaring the election inconclusive.
