Nigerians blast Desmond Elliot for addressing the Youths as ‘Children’

Award-winning Nigerian actor, movie director cum lawmaker, representing Surulere constituency, Desmond Elliot has been trending since his recent remarks referring to Nigerian youths as children while pushing for thr regulation of social media.

Hon. Desmond Elliot during his remarks on the floor of the Lagos State House of Assembly which went viral on the internet, saying the youths are children who have lost value for culture and go about making hate speeches and used the Lekki massacre as an example. He also made it known that there will be no Nigeria in five years if social media isn’t regulated.

Nigerians have expressed their disappointment and displeasure over his remarks, and one of such is Desmond’s colleague and contemporary in acting, Uche Jumbo in a tweet made it known that the same social media he wants to regulate is the same social media he used to package himself and the ruling APC into power.


Davido tweeted that “Desmond Elliot just destroyed the precious childhood memories he gave us in movies.”


Super Eagles player, John Ogu, also added that it was only a bucket of water and hand sanitizer that Desmond provided his constituents during COVID wants to tell Nigerians how to use social media’.


Simi alongside other Nigerians has stated that good governance doesn’t have to do with age, despite the lawmaker is one of the youngest his remarks doesn’t have the interest of the youths at heart.


Just as the saying goes ‘Social Media never forgets’ despite his apology and explanation over his remarks, the lawmaker is still being dragged.
