Nigerian Rapper Upper X Shades Cross River’s Ayade Over Cally Air?

Nigerian rapper Upper X seems to have jokingly taken subtle jabs at Prof Ben Ayade, the Cross River State governor over the proposed State-owned Cally Air.

Upper X with real name…over the weekend in a post on his Facebook account made a joke about going to China via Cally Air (a scam) while sharing a photo of him in an aircraft-like setting and then asked fans their choice of a song he should do a cover for.

The post reads:

“On board CallyAir going to China….first flight 😊😊
Wait..una feel say Na only Oga sabi scam??🤣
Mkpo ke di😒
Meanwhile, it’s been long I did a cover for a trending song.
Tell me which of ur favorite Artist’s song I should do a cover for, n consider it done💯”

In a comment under the post, governor Ayade’s Special Assistant on Entertainment, Mr Efiom Trombone replied to him saying that Upper X was trying to ridicule Ayade who had been a beneficiary of the governor’s benevolence.

“Trying to ridicule the same man that gave you 10M…..
Me. I see why the money no last.”

This Upper X replied to, saying he wasn’t making any ridicule of no one, but his post was the lyrics of a song he made for metaphorical and humour purposes.

“Effiom Trombone eyen Calabar mbok dis is by no means personal, I no Dey ridicule anybody
The first paragraph is a line culled from my song n it’s metaphorical n completely humorous 🙏🏾”

It can be recalled that in December 2020, pictures of a branded Cally Air aircraft surfaced on social media December 2020. Although two Boeing 737 planes have since arrived in Nigeria for the airline business venture, its operation is yet to kick off.

Was Upper X actually shading the governor or he was just ‘catching cruise’?
