Nollywood actors and filmmaker, Aniebiet Francis says that her love and interest for the Akwa Ibom Movie Industry is genuine and driven by selflessness and not profit-oriented, and she will stand up against every anti – Industry idea no matter whose ox is gored.
The actor turned filmmaker disclosed this on Tuesday, April 27 2021 via Facebook while declaring her intention to run for the top job of movie producers in Akwa Ibom State, ahead of the body’s general election holding soon.
“My love and interest for the Akwa Ibom Movie Industry are genuine! It is not profit-oriented, it is driven by selflessness and nothing more! This is why I stand up against every anti – Industry idea irrespective of the brain behind it.”
Aniebiet who goes by the moniker, ‘Amazing Aniebiet’ says that her love for the movie industry in her home State was the reason why she returned from Lagos in 2016, despite the fact that her acting career had picked with productions on MNET and Rok TV platforms.
“It is what brought me back from Lagos in 2016 after my acting career had picked up with productions as MNET Hush and Hotel Majestic, New Man Street, Blessing Egbe’s Iquo’s Journal and This Thing Called Marriage, Akpos and Company, Jimi Odumosu’s Can of Worms, Beneath Her Veil, Rok TV’s Husbands of Lagos etc and a short film; ONE BRIGHT MORNING to my writing and producing credit.”
The Orange Film Boot Camp boss says she is not a title-driven person and has not been involved in the politics of the entertainment industry. She made referenced the 2019 AGN where people had started consultation on her behalf which she declined at the last minute, but this time she is better prepared.
Asides from her movie productions screened in cinemas across Nigeria and Ghana between 2017 and 2020, Aniebiet through her annual Orange Film Boot Camp project has offered free training for our movie practitioners and our teeming youths in Akwa Ibom State. She is also known for being a strong advocate for the development of the movie industry through investment, grants, and interest-free loans.
“Running for the office of the chairperson of Movie Producers in Akwa Ibom State is a call I have answered with total humility and gratitude. I have experienced firsthand the many challenges of producers in Akwa Ibom and I know how to overcome them and my sole intention is to strive to reduce these challenges and equally standardize practices within the industry”, she added.
On her emergence as the Chairperson of the Association of Movie Producers in Akwa Ibom, Aniebiet Francis will lead a pack of other movie industry professionals to bring the much-talked-about improvement for filmmakers in the State, especially in the areas of funding, distribution, and standard equipment.
