Odion Ighalo is set to become Africa’s highest-paid footballer ever if he returns to his Chinese club, Shanghai Shenhua.
The ex-Super Eagles international has been offered a £400,000 (N190,488,800.40) per week contract extension until 2024 by the Chinese Club after they rejected Manchester United‘s loan extension offer for the 30-year old forward.
Ighalo arrived Old Trafford in January on a loan deal from Shanghai Shenhua to Manchester United who was already short in attack following the summer departures of Alexis Sanchez, Romelu Lukaku, and a back injury suffered by Marcus Rashford.
As a long Manchester United fan, Ighalo took a pay-cut to achieve his dream of playing for the English top club, as paid N60 million (£130,000) per week against his £300,000 (N142,840,236.81) weekly wages in China.
He has been in a very impressive form during his short time playing for Manchester United, scoring four goals in three starts for the club in the 2019/2020 season as his short-term contract due to expire on May 30.
