“I Always Wanted to Grow Up as a Rapper” – DJ Santo


Akwa Ibom born rapper, DJ Santo says hip-hop runs in his veins and he had always wanted to grow up as a rapper following the influences of 2Pac, Notorious BIG, LL Cool J and other international rappers.

Santo with the real name Eric Johnson revealed this in a conversation with our correspondent on the sides of Ikpa Udo’s ‘Akwa Ibom to The World’ concert on Friday 26 June 2021.

“I grew up listening to hip-hop music back in the days of 2Pac, Ruff Ryders, Naughty by Nature, Notorious BIG, LL Cool J, Timbaland and Maggo, etc. I have been a fan of hip-hop. Hip-hop runs in my vein bro”.

The ‘Idiok Aboy’ music crew member whose inspiration is America’s Young Jeezy, adds that in other to improve his rap skills, he has never stopped playing hip hop music.

“I listen to a lot of Hardcore and Drill music. That’s how I was motivated to work on the ‘No More’ project.”

‘No More’, his latest song, is currently enjoying radio play and online streams since its release on 24 June 2021 (click here to listen).

Santo who is simply known as a hustler started his music career in 2008 with the release of ‘Playa4Eva’ and has several amazing videos to his credit.
