#EndSARS Protest: ‘Soro Soke’ Online Radio Goes Live


The ongoing #EndSARS and #EndPoliceBrutality campaign in Nigerian moves a notch higher and innovative with the launch of an online radio station naming after the official slogan of the protest tagged – ‘Soro Soke’.

‘Soro Soke Radio’ was launched on Sunday,18 October 2020. It is aimed at aiding coordination of the nationwide protests through effective and timely communication.

A tweet on the official Twitter handle of the station, @Sorosokeradio, reads:

“Welcome to Soro Soke Radio, [SS Radio if ya lazy]. We’re here to sustain Nigeria’s greatest youth revolution by empowering the people with live and accurate protest updates while lifting their spirits with the best local and international protest/conscious music.”

It has programmes and live reports of missing and found protesters, and updates on the protests across the country.

‘Soro Soke’ is a Yoruba phrase for “Speak Up” and had been the official slang of the campaign as the protesters urged Nigerians to own their voices and speak up against police brutality and violence in the country.

Former Vice-President of the World Bank’s Africa division and Co-founder of Transparency International, a global anti-corruption body based in Berlin, Oby Ezekwesili reacted to the Online radio via Twitter.

She lauded the youths for such great feat in the history of Nigeria.
