‘Coming To America 2’ Gets Release Date

After 30 years of its commercially successful box-office release, ‘Coming to America’ finally gets a sequel.

‘Coming to America’ was first released in 1988, starring Eddie Murphy as the crown prince and Arsenio Hall as a friend and personal aide, who both travelled to America in search of a bride for the prince.

A pilot for a planned spin-off television series was made in 1989 and although it was never picked up for a series, the sequel is set for release on Amazon Prime, scheduled to hit the screen on the 5th of March, 2021.

The sequel would feature the return of James Earl Jones as King Jaffe Joffer and also feature Paul Bates reprising his role as Oha with newcomers Wesley Snipes, Teyana Taylor, Morgan Freeman, Rick Ross and Nigeria’s very own Davido.

Set in the lush and total country of Zamunda, newly-crowned King Akeem (Eddie Murphy) and his trusted confidante Semmi (Arsenio Hall) embark on an all-new hilarious adventure that has them traversing the globe from their great African nation to the borough of Queens, New York – where it all began.
