In ’20 10 20‘, Burna Boy sings with sorrow and rage condemning the violence while demanding justice for the slain protesters. He sings: ‘You carry army go kill many youth for Lekki/Na so WATER OOO WATER runaway my eyes/Nothing you go talk wey go justify the case of thеir murder’.

The Lekki Massacre which took place on the 20th of October came after weeks of peaceful #EndSARS protests against police brutality in Nigeria. A group of peaceful protesters camped at the Lekki tollgate in Lagos despite the curfew the state government imposed on all movements in the state. Gun shots were allegedly fired by Nigerian security officials into the crowd of protesters leaving many wounded. Amnesty International reported that at least 10 people were killed.

Burna Boy in a statement said, ‘The proceeds of this song will be used to support families of victims and people suffering affliction as a result of the Lekki shootings. May the heavens open and celebrate all our fallen heroes who have died for this movement from the very beginning. Rest in peace to all the beautiful lives lost.”
