Burna Boy Dismisses Sowore’s Invitation to for October 1 #RevolutionNow Protest


Nigerian singer and the self-acclaimed “African Giant”, Burna Boy has dismissed the invitation by Omoyele Sowore’s for the planned #RevolutionNow protest during Nigeria’s 60th Independence Day Anniversary on October 1, 2020.

Sowore, convener of the #RevolutionNow movement reached out to the Grammy award nominee via Twitter on Tuesday, September 29, 2020, to be part of the anti-government protest to demand government’s accountability of its citizens. He tweeted:

“Hello @burnaboy, everywhere I turn people describe you as a revolutionary musician, the foreign media even celebrate you compare you to Fela Kuti, but I am yet to see you lead anyone to a police station carrying a coffin for head of state! Join #Oct1stProtest #RevolutionNow.”


The Grammy award nominee, Burna boy with real names Damini Ogulu in his reply dismissed Sowore’s invitation saying he doesn’t trust any politician.

“Everybody is a Fela fan and supporter now that he is dead. Humans are so Funny, You politicians are ALL the same (especially in Nigeria) and Frankly I don’t trust none of you. @YeleSowore”
