Just ten days after release and official premiere in all cinema outfit in Nigeria, Ay’s blockbuster movie titled, ”A Trip to Jamaica” has set a new record in the Nigerian movie industry with a gross turn-over estimated to be over 80million Naira.
‘A Trip to Jamaica’ is reported to have beat Omoni Oboli’s ”Wives On Strike ” which was grossed over 67million Naira, to become the highest grossing Nollywood movie in 2016.
The movie which was produced by AY, chronicles more adventures of Akpors, a character created from the AY show’s ”Who Wants to Be A Billionaire” hilarious skits.
Interestingly, the movie which was shot at locations in Nigeria, Jamaica and America, focuses on Akpors (AY) and his fiancée Bola (Funke Akindele), who travel across the Atlantic to visit family, but they eventually ended up in an adventure they could never imagine.
“A Trip to Jamaica” stars Hollywood acts Robert and Dan Davies, Jamaica acts Paul Campbell and Rebecca Silvera, Ghanaian actor Chris Attoh and Nigerian actors/actress that includes AY Makun, Funke Akindele, Nse Ikpe Etim, Patoranking, Cynthia Morgan and Ras Kimono.
