
The Akwa Ibom State University (AKSU) on Tuesday, November 5, 2019, said it takes pride in the training and development of its staff, which remains a major requirement for providing sound and quality education to students of the Institution.
The Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Eno Ibanga, stated this on Tuesday, November 5, 2019 during a briefing of the media as part of the activities to mark the Institution’s fourth and fifth combined Convocation due to hold Friday, November 8, 2019 at the Main Campus, Ikot Akpaden, Mkpat Enin Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.
He said that in the last three years, millions of Naira have been invested in organising Workshops, sponsoring conferences, Seminars for both Academic and Administrative Staff as well as further studies in various fields for Academic staff within and outside the shores of Nigeria.
“Our students need to be properly taught and we want parents to have confidence in what we are doing in AKSU because my business is to build a legacy for our children.”
“The Institution is laying the foundation to become renowned in the area of research by embarking on long-term projects which will not only position us as one of Nigeria’s finest State-owned Institutions but profitable to the country and the African continent”, he added.
Prof. Ibanga also explained that AKSU is in talks with Ibom Air, Exxon Mobil for collaborative purposes.
He informed the Pressmen that a total of 2000 graduates would be awarded degrees and prizes during the combined convocation ceremony, 920 for the 2016/2017 graduating year and 1080 for the 2017/2018 graduating year. 41 of them, 15 from the 2016/2017 batch and 26 from the 2017/2018 set will bag first-class honour degrees.
