There’s a saying that gratitude is a powerful catalyst for happiness and that a grateful heart is a joyful one.
Residents of Onna LGA in Akwa Ibom State and beneficiaries of the free medical outreach wasted no time in expressing just how happy and grateful they were to have had the Mary Remarkable Foundation visit them on Sunday.
The Foundation offered free healthcare to people of all ages, rendering eye tests and providing prescription glasses, medical consultation and treatment, deworming, distribution of free medications and mosquito insecticides, treated mosquito nets, sanitary pads as well as counselling, health talks, community education and sensitisation to all who made their way to Onna.
Malaria Parasite tests, HIV Serology screening, Hepatitis B and C Screening, Random Blood Sugar Level tests, Vital signs check, BP measurement and Anthropometric evaluations were not left out.
Over 100 people with eye issues were given free medical attention with drugs and eye drops. About 30 medicated glasses were reportedly issued out by the Foundation to enhance the eye-sight of those who needed them.
The outreach which was proudly sponsored by Bokano, Platinum innovative, Ti-best Pharmacy and Geedee Food Enterprise had over 400 cases attended to.
One of the beneficiaries who described himself as a businessman and technician said he suffered poor sight due to his broken glasses. At the outreach, he was issued a new pair of glasses by Mary Remarkable and he expressed his lots of joy and appreciation to the Foundation for their tremendous work and support to the needy.
“I’m very happy. I just heard the news last Saturday. I was opportune to test and today I’ve got my lenses, it’s the lenses that I’m putting on right now. It’s very costly and very nice. I pray God to give Mary Remarkable more resources to continue to do this.”
He also called on well-meaning individuals to emulate Mary Remarkable in touching lives to make the world a better place one life at a time.
“If we have like that, three in this community, I think a lot of problems will be solved. So, thank you Mary Remarkable.” He added.
Another beneficiary, Pastor Nketiah, also showered praises and prayers of sustenance to the Foundation who answered his seven-year prayer for reading aids.
“I’m so delighted, I’m so grateful, I’m so happy. I never believed that what I’m seeing now can happen, really, in Nigeria today, I never believed, but I want to give thanks to God for keeping Mary Remarkable as a blessing to this generation. I really really appreciate her and I say may the good God continue to bless her bountifully in Jesus name, Amen.
It’s over seven years now, I’ve been having challenges with my eyes and now I’ve gotten the glasses I can see very clearly, in fact, I’ve become refreshed.”
In expressing gratitude, and satisfaction, the founder of the NGO, Remarkable Mary was not left out. She said “we gave out about 30 prescribed glasses and attended to over 100 people with eye issues as we gave out eye drops and drugs for free.
Over 400 other beneficiaries included children, mothers and elderly people who were given all kinds of drugs like malaria, deworming etc to mention a few upon meeting our doctors”.
