While many are still rejoicing over the signing of the “Not Too Young to Run” bill by President Muhammadu Buhari, many are unaware of the full details of the bill.
It was revealed that the age limit required for one to be elected as a state governor or a senator has not been reduced in the just signed bill.
This was made known in the presidents remarks after the bill was signed into law on Thursday.
Here is the remark in part:
Surprisingly, the age limits for Senators and Governors was not reduced, as originally proposed by the sponsors of this Bill.
This is an issue that may need to be addressed going forward.
The age limit of candidates running for governors and senators was to be reduced to 30 years, but this part was removed by the lawmakers, sabotaging the Nigerian youths.
