Abia State University Resumes, Demands Pandemic Prevention Fees

Abia State University (ABSU) has called for the resumption of its students for the completion of the 2019/2020 Academic first semester.

In a letter dated 21st October, 2020 and signed by the school’s registrar, Acho Elendu, the school informed the students that the semester is scheduled to resume on Monday, 16th November, with students to return on the 9th of November, 2020.

Along with the information of resumption, the management has also demanded payment from students upon resumption for the completion of the 2019/2020 academic session, which has been affected by both the strike of the Academic Staff Union (ASUU) and the lockdown as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.

ABSU demanded a compulsory N15,000 Naira (Fifteen thousand Naira) payment for “Pandemic Prevention Fee” from all students, with evidence of payment necessary before entering into any of the school’s campuses, stating that it was for the health of the students and others.
