An Akwa Ibom female graduate, Nsidibe Etuk who bagged first-class honours from the University of Uyo has felt abandoned by the State government for failing to fulfil a promise of a scholarship made to her 5 years ago by the governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel.
Nsidibe in a Facebook post made on April 6, 2021, revealed that the governor in his speech made the promise of sponsoring her education to any level during the University of Uyo’s convocation ceremony held on October 31, 2015, where she was the valedictory speaker.
While making the reminder post on her page, Nsidibe hoped that Christ’s resurrection (during the Easter celebration) bring a visitation to her case, as she pleaded with “the Governor and all the parties involved in fulfilling this public promise, to solidify it with love and dedication.”
“These pictures were taken on October 31, 2015, during my convocation at University of Uyo, Nigeria. I bagged a First-Class Honours and emerged the Valedictorian that year. Our beloved Governor, His Excellency, Mr Udom Emmanuel in his speech at the event promised that I would be sponsored to further my education at anywhere to any level.
Jesus Christ was abandoned in the tomb for three days. So has my graduation promise been laid in the sepulchre of bureaucracy for over five years now. May Christ’s resurrection bring a visitation to my case. May it please our Governor and all the parties involved in fulfilling this public promise, to solidify it with love and dedication.”
In a conversation with her by our correspondent, Nsidibe said she was referred to the State’s Ministry of Education and kept on following up from there but nothing came out of it, though she didn’t forget. Hence, she made the post on social media as a reminder to the governor.
