The eyes is one of the most important sense organs, hence needs appropriate care to keep it functioning well. For many, they engage in everyday practices, knowingly and unknowingly; becoming exposed to high risk of losing their sight overtime.

Patronizing Quacks
Most people prefer to patronize quacks for eye glasses sold by the road-side for medication purposes. Contact a certified optometrist and know the actual eye defect before taking necessary medication.
Smoking
Smoking has been a longstanding social habit and heavy smokers are at high of risk of age-related macular degeneration, cataracts, glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy and dry eye syndrome.
Self-Medication
People will suggest all manners of eye cure tips when you have an eye problem. This includes applying urine, salt and sugar solutions, breast milk, leaf extracts or any traditional medicine to the eye. Applying these things may worsen the situation.
Use of Bright Screens
It is necessary to give rest to your eyes at intervals of 20minutes or less when working on bright screens for at least 20 seconds, this will reduce the exposure of the eyes to the intensity of light. Also, reduce the brightness of the screen, especially in the dark.
Non-use of Protective Eye Tool:
Most people work without wearing safety eye-goggles i.e wielders or other jobs that are hazardous in nature. Continuous exposure may cause irreversible damage to the eyes on a long run.
