Four Bills sponsored by the member representing Etinan/Nsit Ibom/Nsit Ubium Federal Constituency, Mr Onofiok Luke, has passed the first reading in the House of Representatives.

The Bills which passed first reading on Wednesday are:
Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999( Alteration) Bill 2021 (HB. 1539) Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999( Alteration) Bill 2021 (HB. 1540), Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999( Alteration) Bill 2021 (HB. 1541) and the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (Alteration) Bill 2021 (HB. 1542).

Meanwhile, a Bill for An Act to alter the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 to Remove Item 36 (maritime shipping and navigation) from the Exclusive Legislative List and Insert it on the Concurrent Legislative List sponsored by Mr Luke was stepped down for further legislative consultations.

The Bill, among other things, seeks to promote rapid development in the maritime industry through states participation in the sector without unnecessary federal bottlenecks.
