
The President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Mohammed Buhari has reiterated his administration’s commitment towards poverty alleviation in the country.
President Buhari made this statement on Thursday, 10 December 2020, through a post from his Twitter account, announcing the expansion of the scope of the social welfare program to include more people in their schemes.
We remain committed to the plan to lift 100m Nigerians out of poverty. To this end I have approved an increase in scope of our Social Investment Programme:

Under the new presidential directive, the beneficiaries of the N-POWER program has been doubled, taking the number from 500,000 to 1,000,000 citizens. Also, the Government Enterprise and Empowerment Program has now been extended to include 1,000,000 new beneficiaries.
The Home School Feeding Program was not left out, with the administration looking to fulfil its promise of providing one meal a day to school children. The beneficiaries of the program have also been increased to accommodate 5,000,000 new children across the nation.
