Veteran Nigerian musician and entertainer, Mista Xto has shared his thoughts on the issue of unemployment in the country, saying that it’s high rate is due to the promotion of certificates over acquiring of skills, rather than inculcating technical education and wealth creation from the primary level.
On Wednesday the South Central Music boss, real names Christopher Esin took to his Facebook timeline and stated thus:
“A government that wants to create employment and entrepreneurs from jobless youths today should first ask how the youths became jobless. We are jobless because we promote certificates over skills. Invest in technical schools, create employers of labour from primary schools and make easy access to facilities for investment for those who have ideas to invent new things. Teach children to make money by carrying tools and they will grow to expand and teach and employ others. My thought.”
It’s said that “an idle man is the devil’s workshop” and we know that due to unemployment, there has been a surge in insecurity, drug abuse and other social vices plaguing the country. What is your own thought on the solution to unemployment in Nigeria? Do you share Mista Xto‘s sentiments?
