At the 2019 BET Awards held on Sunday night, Nigerian Pop star Burna Boy took home one of the biggest awards, winning the “Best International Act” award.
Shortly before the award for that category, the “On the Low” singer stepped out of the hall, leaving his mom who also serves as his manager to receive the plaque on his behalf.
In an acceptance speech, Bose Ogulu aka ‘Mama Burna’ as she’s fondly referred to, told the audience seated in the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, California.
“Every black person should please remember that you were Africans before you were anything else.”
