Following the popular perception people hold about being a feminist, Award-winning Nigeria female writer, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie has opened up on why she joined the feminist movement.

She shared her reasons in a recent television interview with CNN’s Christine Amanpour. She said:

“I didn’t become a feminist because I read about second-wave feminism,” says the author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. “I became a feminist because I grew up in Nigeria, and observed the world. And just saw what felt to me like an injustice that made no sense.”
