One of Nollywood’s finest comic act in recent times, Ime Bishop Umoh joins the list of controversial personalities in the 2019 election campaign season, as he campaigns for two governorship candidates of the PDP and APC in his home State, Akwa Ibom.
Ime who rose to fame after taking a prominent role in the “Okon Lagos” movie, was seen in a video released by the All Progressives Congress, campaigning for the Party’s governorship candidate, Obong Nsima Ekere.
Watch video below:
This has sparked a lot of negative reactions on social media from Ime’s colleagues and fans since the video got released on Saturday evening.
In recent weeks, Ime embarked on a campaign tour across markets in Akwa Ibom tagged #UdomMarketTour.
He also joined the reelection campaign rally at Nsit Ibom (his Local Government Area) on Saturday for Mr Udom Gabriel Emmanuel of the Peoples Democratic Party, who Ime is Special Assistant to on Ethical Reorientation. There he made a contradicting speech as against the video he was paid for by the APC, hence the video was released.
Also, in a bid to debunk the APC campaign video where he asked Akwa Ibomites to “vote for Obong Nsima Ekere” he released another clip saying that the “APC in Akwa Ibom State are desperate to win elections”. Watch below.
Many have called for his resignation on the grounds of disloyalty, while others have said that the TV comic star only ” scammed” the APC.
