“MY PASSION FOR MUSIC & TRAVIS GREENE AS MENTOR MAY LEAD ME ON”
As a growing child, I was exposed to music from Day one when my parents unconsciously got me little musical instruments as toys. The first toys I could remember were a little drum with drum sticks and a microphone, so I’d always use them during morning prayers to make noise. As I got older, my mum got me a guitar shaped cake for my birthday and on another birthday, I requested for a piano cake, which wasn’t possible at the time, so instead I got a piano for my birthday.
All these actions shaped my mind unconsciously towards loving music. I joined my church choir in 2008 and I was part of the people that would always stay at the back every service day. I was talem over by the desire to get better. I almost lost my Zeal to get better when I heard some people calling me “frog voice” one day. I felt so bad, but I made sure I turned all that negativity into positive energy to drive my passion. It took me four years to watch, learn and grow. It was in November 2012 that I took a leap of faith to stand in front of the church to lead in few choruses during offering and boooooommmm!!! That was how it all started. A lot of people congratulated me, some even gave me money to encourage me. I was overwhelmed so I decided to work more, I had to go to YouTube to watch people’s ministrations, people like Sammie Okposo, Uche Agu and others, I also had to attend concerts where I would always record people’s ministrations then go back home to listen to them and use their pattern when I sing in church.
This process prepared me for the task I had in front of me. In 2014 I was appointed the choir director (the youngest ever in my church) a position I hold till date.
I came in contact with Travis Greene’s music in 2016 after listening to the song “INTENTIONAL”, which has been a blessing to me and others. When I got to listen to “MADE A WAY” I wept and the song remained on repeat for weeks on my phone.
Since then I’ve fallen in love with Travis Greene and his music, which made me to see gospel music in a whole new way. Travis has mentored me indirectly and has been my role model for sometime now. I hope to meet him soon because I know I have a lot to learn from him.
This year I have decided to go into music fully because I know God has deposited a gift in me , a gift that will bless the world and at the end return all Glory to him. So I’m not hiding any more, I’m stepping out of my comfort zone to create good music that will bless, uplift and change lives around the world.
So friends, what do you think about this??
