With an increasing number of smartphones with a bezel-less screen, the physical buttons on a smartphone are slowly disappearing. Samsung might be reaching the next level with a true bezel-less smartphone.
In a quest to make smartphones completely free of bezels, brands like Vivo are working on implementing under-glass fingerprint sensors. However, smartphones brands still need to save some more space for the other on-screen sensors.
Sensors such as the selfie camera still have to be available. Is there any possibility of the selfie camera to be placed on the display?! It seems Samsung has the answer to our question!
The South Korean giant filed a patent early last year with the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO). The patent shows off a device with an all-screen display. It shows a 100% screen-to-body-ratio with no sensors on its front at all.
Samsung could become the first company to release a zero bezel phone if at all, it plans on shifting everything behind or probably below the display in a future device, that is, if no other company beats it to it.
This was just the release of the patent of the phone. There is no official announcements or information from Samsung with regards to this. The phone is still in its conceptual stage and it will likely stay that way for a while.
Before that happens, Samsung will be unwrapping its next-generation Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ phones, at the upcoming MWC 2018 event in Barcelona. This information is from Samsung’s Mobile Communications Business President DJ Koh. He disclosed in a press conference that the company will be unveiling the devices at MWC which is scheduled for February 26.
The phones differ in size. That is the Galaxy S9+ will be a bigger version of S9 and probably with a bigger battery capacity.
