Investigations are currently under way by football’s apex governing body, FIFA , over chants of a “possible discriminatory” nature by England fans during their World Cup semi-final match against Croatia.
Fans of the “Three Lions” were reportedly heard chanting “no surrender” as well as other potentially discriminatory songs.
FIFA, in a statement said: “We can confirm that a report has been filed in relation to chants of a possible discriminatory nature by English fans. Proceedings have been opened against the Football Association.”
England were defeated 2-1 by Croatia in Moscow as they failed in their attempt to reach a first World Cup final since 1966. They now face a third/fourth place play-off against Belgium on Saturday in St. Petersburg
