Police Attack PDP Leaders During Peaceful Protest at INEC Headquarters in Abuja


Officers of the Nigerian Police have attacked PDP leaders and other members of the Party during a peaceful protest at the INEC headquarters in Abuja.

The police teargassed, shot at the PDP members who according to them were on a peaceful protest fighting against the alleged manipulation of the Osun elections by the Independent National Electoral Commission. They also demanded that INEC declare Ademola Adeleke as the winner f the governorship election in the State.

Ben Murray Bruce wrote on tweeter:

‪”I have just been teargassed by the Nigerian Police after protesting at INEC’s office. Gunshots have been fired. This was and still is a peaceful protest. How can I be treated like this in a country I have fought for and invested in? This is madness, I came with words and they answered with bullets!”

 

The protesters included the party chairman, Uche Secondus, Speaker of the house Yakubu Dogara, governor of Sokoto, Aminu Tambuwal, National Legal Adviser of the Party, Barr. Enodiem and former governor of Jigawa, Sule Lamido, reports Vaguard.

The protest coincided with the formal presentation by Governor Rauf Aregbesola of the winner, Oyetola to President Muhammadu Buhari.
