PDP Leads Governorship and Assembly Polls in Akwa Ibom

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Akwa Ibom has taken a major lead in the March 9, 2019 Governorship and Assembly Polls in Akwa Ibom State.

With the announcement of results at the various collation centres across the State, the Party has won in over 21 Local Government Areas.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Obong Nsima Ekere with 7549 votes, lost in his Local Government Area to the incumbent governor, Udom Emmanuel of the PDP scoring 9335 votes.

The governor also won at home with a wide margin, scoring 32,103 against APC’s 2,110.

Also according to the results, the PDP have clinched majority of the House of Assembly seats. This may see the absence of the opposition in State’s legislative arm.

An official announcement will be made by the INEC REC in the State, Prof. Mike Igini in some hours to come.
