The All Progressives Congress (APC) has cleared Orji Uzor Kalu, former Governor of Abia State, to contest the party’s senatorial primary election, reports Sahara Reporters.
His clearance was confirmed by Yekini Nabena, acting National Publicity Secretary of the party, in a statement on Tuesday evening.
“The National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has cleared the former governor of Abia State, H.E. Dr. Uzor Kalu and Yusuf A. Haruna to contest the Party’s Senate Primaries for Abia North and Kogi Central Senatorial districts respectively”, Nabena said.
Orji Uzor Kalu is currently being prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for an alleged fraud of N7.1billion, a case which has taken 11 long years.
The funds were diverted from the Abia State Government’s treasury, during Kalu’s tenure as Governor for eight years, from 1999 to 2003.
