Nigerians woke up to the news that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), announced the postponement of the 2019 general elections, rescheduling to new dates.
Nigerians have expressed their dissatisfaction over the development, citing that the postponement is as a result of the Commission’s incompetence, which is headed by Prof. Mahmood Yakubu.
Many who took to mirco-blogging platform, Twitter to have their say on the situation and have even called for the INEC Chairman’s sack.
Read their reactions below:
Prof. Mahmood Yakubu who’s not been totally truthful w/ regards @inecnigeria’s preparedness now thinks that one week is the same thing as one year. He’ll disappointment again…He clearly lacks the capacity to conduct an election of this magnitude.#NigeriaDesides2019

I really feel for well-meaning “Nigerians” who have travelled to their polling zones for elections only for INEC to postpone it to “23rd of February”.
We all have to to persevere.
Delay is not denial.
INCOMPETENCE has just found a new name in “INEC”

.@inecnigeria has officially postponed the Nigerian presidential elections to the 23rd of February, 4 hours to the start of the presidential elections. INEC is nothing but incompetent and a disgrace to Nigeria. Whoever is behind this is trying to disenfranchise Nigerians.

The postponement of the Presidential Election at this dying minute just showed how this administration has been a complete failure right from 2015 till date #AtikuIsMyPresident

It is official.
Less than 4hrs to the original date, @inecnigeria has postponed Nigeria’s presidential election to Saturday, 23rd of February.
I don’t know if it is possible for an organisation to be more incompetent than this.
Less than 4hrs to the original date!…

What happened to those who traveled long distances to vote, observers who flew into the country from around the world, people who rescheduled their travels to hang around and vote.
This decision from #INEC Prof. Mahmood Yakubu is highly irresponsible and selfish.

Prof. Mahmood Yakubu you are the biggest disgrace ever. You are worst than Idi Amin. You suffered corpers for nothing. I have not slept tonight cos I was lying on an empty floor. YOU MUST RESIGN you good for nothing INEC chairman. Rubbish

And to think that @Prof_AJega was heavily criticized as INEC Chair when Prof. Mahmood Yakubu @ChairmanINEC is galaxies away from his performance so far and has shown signs of someone who’s been compromised is surprising.
On days like this, I’m ashamed to be called a Nigerian.

You don’t wait till hours before the polls – when millions of people were committed to it by traveling and making plans around – when you could have done same weeks and months before. I have exams on the 23rd for starters. Some probably have weddings. Flights. This is a MESS!
