When it comes to the movie scene in Nigeria, Aniebiet Francis is no new face. The actress cum producer recently launched a campaign on Emergency Accident Response with a short film – “Every Seconds Counts” she produced herself. The edgy thespian who just got nominated for the 2016 Niger Delta Advancement Awards, spoke to Hypestation about style.
Hypestation: What you’d never be caught wearing.
Aniebiet Francis: You will never see me wearing a nose ring, except I am on a movie set and the character I am playing needs to wear a nose ring to help interpret the role.
Hypestation: Who is your style icon
Aniebiet Francis: Rita Dominic is my style Icon, firstly, she is modest in her style (I know this is a bit awkward coming from me). Secondly, she slays even in pyjamas.
Hypestation: What is your typical outfit?
Aniebiet Francis: My typical outfit is a body dress because it sits well on my physique… I am busty, with a broad waist, and I am hippy with a flat ass… Body dresses accentuate my curves. It works for me anytime
Hypestation: Outfit on your wish list.
Aniebiet Francis: Outfit on my wish list is the dress Carol King Dajuma wore for her movie premiere.
Hypestation: Your worst style moment.
Aniebiet Francis: My worst style moment was my look to the AMVCA 2015…first off, I was down with malaria but I had an AMVCA invite, I could not miss. I wore my regular church gown, I did a regular make up, when I arrived at the scene I regretted doing that to myself… I couldn’t even take pictures of me with my own phone.
Hypestation: Describe your style – minimalist, risk taker, classic?
Aniebiet Francis: My style… I am a risk taker, I told you about the risk I took for the AMVCA…
Hypestation: Fashion accessory you can’t do without.
Aniebiet Francis: There is really no fashion accessory I can’t do without. I am not even an accessory person. I don’t have a wrist watch, if you ever see me with one, it is either my mum’s or aunt’s. I don’t like gold necklaces, I wear costumes when it’s a must, purses, clutches, if I have no option.
Hypestation: Dream fashion shopping destination?
Aniebiet Francis: My dream fashion stops over is Italy, because I love shoes and bags, and Italy is a household name for shoes and bags.
Hypestation: What’s your definition of style?
Aniebiet Francis: My definition of style is confidence…Confidence is what inspires a new trend of style… I remember when my friend Barrister Uno wore trainers with a native trouser, in 2015, his friend Barrister Ofonime (Kpozo) and Stephen made a mockery of him. Today it is a new trend.
Hypestation: Best colour.
Aniebiet Francis: My best colour is red, it is the colour of blood, it constantly reminds of God’s love for me
