In the quest to make sure the people of Akwa Ibom have access to quality medical care, the State government under the leadership of Mr. Udom Emmanuel is completely overhauling and repositioning the State’s public healthcare facilities.
One of such is the newly remodelled, equipped and fully digitalised General Hospital, Iquita, Oron. This is after 77 years of savings the lives of the people of the area and unarguably, this medical facility truly deserved a new phase of life.
Iquita General Hospital, Oron, founded in 1942 and which hitherto was tagged by some as a death-trap, is now exquisitely remodelled and upgraded.
Many units of the hospital are in brand new shape like the: Out Patients Department with15 compartment in its wing, Antenatal unit, Laboratory, Administrative and Pharmacy Unit, three surgical units, and Anti-retroviral unit. The Ear, Nose Throat and Eye centre has been built newly.
The Accident and Emergency ward is now remodeled and extended to have 17 compartments with ambulance bay, X-ray unit and offices for doctors which was not available until the remodeling work.
Other General Hospitals in the State in good shape now include; Etinan General hospital, Ituk Mbang General Hospital, Ikono General Hospital, Ikot Okoro General Hospital, Immanuel General Hospital, Eket, and St. Luke’s hospital, Anua.
