The on-fire Super Eagles forward Odion Ighalo scored a brace to secure the 3 points win over Libya on Tuesday, in a 2019 Africa Cup of Nation (AFCON) qualifier taking the Nigerian team top of Group E.
Ighalo scored his first of the night in the 14th minute before turning provider as Ahmed Musa doubled Nigeria’s lead in the 18th minute.
The Libyans were not ready to go down easily and pulled one goal back just before the halftime though Mohamed Zubya. They looked spurred to go on and win it after Ahmed Benali equalised in the 74th minute but Ighalo completed his brace in the 81st minute to get all the three points for the Super Eagles.
The brace against Libya made it five goals in two games for the striker, making him the highest scorer in the qualifiers.
Ighalo has been under heavy criticism following his poor display at the world cup, especially after missing a clear chance against Argentina which led to his team to be knocked out of the competition, with a late goal from Rojo making it 2-1 in favor of Argentines.
