Tech giant and biggest online search engine, Google has today celebrated veteran filmmaker Late Amaka Igwe with a doodle to mark her 57th birthday posthumously.
A Google Doodle is a special, temporary alteration of the logo on Google’s homepages to commemorate holidays, events, achievements and celebrate notable historical figures.
Late Amaka Igwe, who was a Nollywood filmmaker and a broadcasting executive is also being honoured today, as the doodle went live on Google Nigeria homepage.
The success of the Nigerian film industry known as Nollywood, continues because of the sheer hard work of a lot of people, some pioneers had to set the tone and one such is Amaka Igwe.
She was recognised as one of the second-generation filmmakers who helped begin the video film era of Nigerian cinema. Some of her film credits include the award-winning productions; Rattlesnake (1995), Violated (‘96) Fuji House of commotion, etc.
