The Federal Government has said it will sanction any telecom operator in Nigeria for violating the directive to suspend the proposed USSD charges on users.
This was announced on Thursday by the Minister for Communications and Digital Economy, Dr Isa Pantami, after being briefed about proposed charges, saying there was no justification for the new tariff by telecom operators.
He then sanctioned the plan and any telecom operator that violates this directive would be sanctioned appropriately, according a tweet found on the Ministries Official Twitter account.
The tweet reads.
After receiving briefing about the proposed USSD charges, I realized there was no justification for the new tariff, consequently, I directed it’s immediate suspension, any telecom operator that violates this directive would be sanctioned appropriately.
